Mobile App Design

I designed an app for dog owners aiming to connect them and help them explore dog-friendly spots in Kraków. The app fosters community among dog owners, guiding them to scenic locations, and providing easy access to dog-related information, events, and activities.

Double Diamond

Throughout the project, I followed the Double Diamond framework to organize my thoughts to improve the creative process.

Research

I conducted desk research on the target group, focusing on aspects like personality, health, well-being, and demographics. To deepen my understanding, I interviewed dog owners to identify common patterns in their responses and gain insight into their challenges and difficulties.

The target group consists of socially active young adults who enjoy exploring new and interesting locations with their dogs. Additionally, I conducted on-site observations in these areas to gather firsthand insights. Below is the observation guide I prepared for this purpose.

Mapping

Affinity Diagram

I looked for patterns and similarities in interviewees’ answers and sorted them into different groups based on their relationships to one another.

User Persona

I created the persona to achieve a reliable and realistic reflection of how a group of people engage with the solution.

VPC

Creating the Value Proposition Canvas helped me understand Nadia’s pains and needs and discover products or services that would solve them.

OOUX

I organized objects and CTAs, and while doing so, I took into account Nadia’s goals, and the objects’ importance and usage frequency.

Design

Mindmap

Based on observations and core values, I created a mindmap to help me picture the visual style my solution should have.

Moodboard

Based on mindmap and observations, I made a moodboard to visualize the vibrant, energetic and playful design I am going for.

Lo-fi Prototype

After creating some sketches of the flow, I started prototyping.

Logo and Brand Identity

After a brainstorming session, I came up with the brand name - Doggle. I chose it over other names because it is short and easy to pronounce and remember.

The style provided me with a clear overview of how my solution would look, while also helping me maintain consistency throughout my work.

To gain users' trust and make my solution recognizable, I made the dog the app's mascot and named it Milo. Milo greets users when they open the app for the first time.

Lo-fi Prototype

While making the hi-fi prototype, I focused on the remarks made by the testers. Some of the changes I made can be seen below.

Reflection

This was one of my first projects and looking back at it makes me realize mistakes I made along the way. It was my first time experimenting with Figma components and responsive web development.

Despite the challenges, I still consider it a valuable project to showcase, as reflecting on it highlights how much I've learned since then.
