Web App for Coop
In collaboration with QuickInfo, our main mission was clear: prevent food waste. Through extensive research and strategic planning, we aimed to design a digital solution for Coop supermarkets in Denmark.

This project aimed to develop a B2B web application for the manager and supermarket employees at Coop. This platform will empower Coop staff to systematize operations and contribute to fostering sustainability and community engagement.
Problem Statement
We want to create a better alternative to Too Good To Go by connecting with local audiences and selling the food that otherwise would go to waste without nudging for over-consumption.

Research
Food Waste in Denmark
According to our research, Denmark has implemented several measures to address the issue of food waste. These measures include banning supermarkets from throwing away edible food and promoting initiatives like the Too Good To Go app. However, despite these efforts, a considerable amount of edible food is still wasted annually.
Despite these efforts, Denmark still wastes approximately 814,000 tons of edible food each year, as reported by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.
Interviews
To get to know more about the true needs and priorities of our target audience, and to understand the context in which they will interact with the solution, we conducted semi-structured interviews with people working at a supermarket.
Examples of questions
Mapping
Affinity Diagram
By analyzing the data, we discovered that the employees’ main struggles are:
Checking expiring/expired food takes a long time to finish since it is done manually.
Frustration when customers reserve discount bags online but do not pick them up.
The app they are using is slow.
They stopped using "Too Good To Go" due to high commission fees.
User Persona
Based on the Affinity Diagram, and the problems we found out, we developed a User Persona named Matias Petersen.
He represents the target audience of this project. His goals, frustrations, objectives, and expectations helped us to focus on the needs of the target audience.
Since his goals address both managing stocks and selling discount bags, we decided to create a solution that is a combination of a stock management system and a discount bag platform to sell surplus food.
How Might We
Using the How Might We method, we brainstormed the possible implementation of these requirements on the web pages, and identified the necessary elements for the prototyping steps.
User Flow
Before starting prototyping, we created a User Flow to understand the way users would navigate around the website to find the information they need.
Design
Sketching
After an individual sketching session, we selected our best ideas and combined them into one large sketch. We then merged it with user flow to create a better visual representation of the flow.

Lo-Fi Prototype
Testing
We conducted a "Think Aloud" user test to evaluate the usability of our product. Using the feedback, we made improvements to the high-fidelity version.

Reflection
This project wasn’t easy.
There were moments of uncertainty and discouragement, especially given that we were dealing with a genuine case and a real client. However, through perseverance and dedication, we created a solution that deeply resonated with our client.
This project made me understand how much I love designing user interfaces and prototyping in Figma. As a Graphic Design Leader, I guided our team through the design process where we combined our mappings, and UX laws into a finished product.
My main responsibilities during this project included:
organizing workflow during the design phase,
creating final sketches,
leading Hi-Fi design,
creating and managing components in Figma.
Client’s Feedback
“You created a very deep solution and looked into many layers of it. I'm sure Coop would very quickly approve it.”
